Spanish talent shone at Milan Design Week 2025.
During the last edition, Spanish talent was very much in evidence. Emerging designers such as Miguel Leiro, whose installation was titled 'A Drifting Loop', and Jorge Suárez-Kilzi, whose luminaires were inspired by nature and Japanese culture, demonstrated that Spanish creativity is at the forefront.
Firms such as ESTO Estudio, Malva Office, Luis Gimeno and Júlia Esqué also stood out. Each presented pieces with character, combining mechanical innovation, an artisanal spirit, and contemporary aesthetics — an impressive example of how furniture can be reinvented from our roots.
Craftsmanship and minimalism took centre stage.
The fusion of artisanal design with minimalist lines was a recurring theme. For instance, Mesura's installation for Marset was notable for its structural warmth, and the 'Inspired in Barcelona: Luce” collection took us on an enveloping and emotional lighting journey.
These trends are reflected in Spanish furniture, which features wooden structures with soft finishes, carved details, and architectural designs that showcase the country's immense talent.
Multifunctional furniture and enveloping forms are also popular.
Modular and multifunctional furniture continues to grow in popularity within the national and global scenes. Inspired by the need for flexible spaces in small homes, this type of furniture is manufactured with clean lines, neutral colours and natural finishes that are pleasing to the touch and sight.
Certified wood, natural fibres and sculptural pieces with soft, curved or circular shapes dominate the 2025 catalogues.
Warm colours connected to the earth.
Warm browns, ochre and taupe, as well as organic tones such as olive green and deep blue, are setting the trend. Influenced by national designs and fairs such as Intergift, these colours bring serenity and elegance to our homes.
